Silicone is used because it is long life, strong yet flexible (does not get brittle in cold weather), and some raw milk advocates believe it is superior to plastic milk hose for milk quality.

    Plug and play!

Posted by Kate on Aug 16th 2025

I bought a Hamby reconditioned Surge setup from a guy who bought for a cow but then never used. I was buying milk goats and had been taught to milk with a Surge system. I considered trying to disassemble the cow inflations on the lid and make a goat setup but was reluctant to because a milk cow is in my future. I bought this and the Interpuls conversion thingy. I got a used C lid from a friend (plus a 3 gal bucket- score!) and plugged it all together with a guess and it worked beautifully! No instructions included because even a blond woman can figure it out! I will also say that I was confused about why the shutoffs were at the connection point but then the light bulb clicked in my head and I realized it was so you could cut the milk hose and insert them where you want! I placed them 15 inches away from the inflations and that's working well for me.

Thick sturdy hoses. Expensive, yes, but it saved us a lot of piecemeal work. I recommend!
